Benet Acaedmy’s Request:

As a visible cornerstone of the Village of Lisle’s educational community, Benet Academy is committed to continuous improvement and investing in its campus to serve generations to come. The leadership of Benet Academy proposes to improve its outdated athletic fields, track, and stadium. Renovating these facilities will enhance student safety during physical education classes and athletic competitions. The improvements will benefit all students, families, fans, and the greater Lisle community by having this community institution have facilities equal to those found throughout the region.

The Need:

After serving students for decades, the Baumgartner-Gilbert Stadium is at the end of its useful life. While standard at nearly any high school, the current facility lacks synthetic multi-sport field turf, a dedicated visitor seating area to provide hospitality to fans and families visiting Lisle from other communities, enclosed press and coaches’ boxes, and a safe track for students to use for physical education. Today, Benet is one of only two high schools in DuPage County that do not have an athletic field with a lighting system. The current facilities are inconsistent with Benet’s need to provide an safe environment for students to achieve their personal best at in the heart of the Village of Lisle.

Benefits of Renewing the Stadium:

Investing in the campus will benefit students and the community for years to come. As a result of current conditions, for more than 20 years, Benet has undertaken a series of workarounds, including hosting some home competitions off-campus at rented facilities across DuPage County. Renewing the stadium will bring the tradition of hosting events back to Benet at a facility that creates a sense of community and pride by fostering shared experiences among students, friends, fans, family, and community members.

By modernizing the outdated stadium and athletic fields we can:

  • Provide a Safe Experience for Students and Athletes
  • Equality of Competition Opportunity for All
  • Improve the Campus for Generations to Come

Show Your Support:

After six hearings, on November 19th the Village of Lisle Planning and Zoning Commission voted 6–1 in favor of recommending Benet’s proposal to the Village Board. We sincerely appreciate the Commission’s thorough review of Benet’s plans and their recognition of the adjustments and commitments we made in response to ongoing community feedback.

With this recommendation, the request moves to the final step, consideration before the Village Board of Trustees. The meeting is scheduled for Monday, January 12, at 7 p.m., and we look forward to engaging with the trustees and the community.

We invite our supporters to attend the Village Board meeting and show their pride by wearing Benet colors or spirit wear.
